Wei Dai is a software engineer credited with the concept of b-money, which he described in an essay in 1998. B-money is a theoretical concept in which pseudonymous users on a computer network trade with each other using digital currency verified with SHA-1 hash functions.[1] This theory is considered a significant influence in the creation of bitcoin, blockchain, and other cryptocurrency technology. In fact, Wei Dai was part of the original team of programmers that created bitcoin, and Dai himself regularly communicated with the creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.[2] Dai is also one of several men suspected of being the real Satoshi Nakamoto.[3][4]
