In September, she wrote a post in the company's blog explaining that the company intends Bakkt to function like a regulated futures market, rather than an unregulated crypto exchange. The company hopes to help develop the crypto market infrastructure by building Bakkt off of existing futures market practices. In December 2019, Loeffler resigned from her position with Bakkt to become a U.S. senator (R., GA). She later joined the Senate Agricultural Committee, which has jurisdiction over the CFTC.
