Juthica Chou is the former president and chief risk officer as well as a co-founder of LedgerX, a regulated bitcoin futures and swaps exchange and clearinghouse, a derivatives clearing organization. She spent seven years as a derivatives trader within the securities division of Goldman Sachs, where she specialized in algorithmic trading.[1][2]

In the summer of 2019 Chou's husband, LedgerX Co-Founder and CEO Paul Chou, wrote a post on a blog implying that the former Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Chris Giancarlo, had given preferential treatment to the ICE/Bakkt bitcoin futures approval over LedgerX.[3] Both Chous were placed on administrative leave by LedgerX in December 2019.[4]A January 14, 2020 company announcement about personnel changes revealed that both Chous' departures were permanent.[5]

Background

Chou began her career as an options market-maker on the quantitative volatility trading desk at Goldman Sachs, where her product scope ranged from equity and index options to VIX, treasuries, currencies and commodities. She later joined the single stock volatility desk, where she traded dispersion and variance swaps and focused on the automated quoting of packaged trades.

Education

She received a B.S. in Mathematics with Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
