CLAM claims to be the "most fairly distributed cryptocurrency." The CLAMs network was created when CLAMs were sent to all active users of the 3 most popular digital currencies, bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin on May 12, 2014."[1]

It has a relatively small market capitalization of about $18 million as of June 7, 2019, according to figures from CoinMarketCap, an online cryptocurrency industry data aggregator.[2]

CLAMs received unwelcome attention when its price collapsed on May 26, 2019, causing at least $13 million in losses from margin trading on Poloniex.[3]
