"Altcoin" is a colloquial term used for cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin. The term refers to these cryptocurrencies being considered "alternative coins," as they are not as well-established as bitcoin. They may also have features or benefits that bitcoin does not.[1][2]

Some examples of altcoins include TRON, Ripple, and Ethereum.[3]
