Tokenization is the process of taking something of value, such as a bank account or an amount of equity, and encoding it into something that represents that value.[1] Cryptocurrency is one example of this, but tokenization can also be used to refer to anything that replaces sensitive information with unique passwords, hashes, or identification symbols.[2][3]
