Libereum is a Dutch start-up which issues tokens and uses the proceeds to invest in football (soccer) clubs. It announced its first acquisition, of the Spanish Elche Football Club, on December 26, 2018, for €80 million.[1]

The company plans eventually to require payments for tickets as well as goods and services around the stadium be made in Liber, Libereum's token. Its goal is to popularize the token by requiring its use for access to football events. [2]

According to the Libereum website, Liber were first exclusively available for purchase on a cryptocurrency trading platform, LATOKEN, for $5 each.[3] LATOKEN is not accessible to U.S. residents.[4]
