The Chicago DeFi Alliance (CDA) is an organization that offers business advisory services to cryptocurrency and blockchain startups.[1]

Overview

The CDA was founded in 2020 by representatives from a number of prominent trading firms operating in Chicago, including Jump Capital, Cumberland DRW, CMT Digital, TD Ameritrade, Volt Capital, and the DeFi startup Compound. The organization consists of numerous "mentors" - experienced traders, technology experts, and executives - who work with blockchain and digital asset startups to help them develop into stronger, more self-sufficient businesses.[2] The organization was started during the coronavirus pandemic, which caused the majority of Chicago - as well as the world - to suffer from numerous operational difficulties due to a pervasive quarantine. According to Volt Capital co-founder Soona Amhaz, the CDA aims to help DeFi startups get “up and running” and stay “insulated from macro conditions” during the crisis.[3]
